National Night Out - Rice Military Civic Club 2005
Illuminations Lighting Design was proud to co-sponsor Rice Military's National Night Out festivities held at the Doris Miller Center located at 5216 Feagan on August 2, 2005.
National Night Out is billed as "America's Night Out Against Crime" to promote the following:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
This year's festivities were sponsored by a variety of local businesses in the Rice Military Subdivision such as West End Bicycles, Target, Speedy Sign A Rama, Jamba Juice, Hickory Hollow, El Tiempo Cantina to name a few. Activities included a table top displays by many local businesses, a petting zoo, face painting, bake-off, and door prizes. Mayor Bill White briefly attended the function to speak to the crowd as did Houston City Councilman Gordon Quan. Overall, the event was a huge success!
For Illuminations Lighting Design, it was a real family affair. Helping out dad with the booth were Sam and Hannah Kretzschmar. Between working the crowd, Sam and Hannah enjoyed visiting th
e petting zoo, drinking Jamba Juice, eating pizza and meeting Mayor Bill White. All the vendors were armed with plenty of promotional items and both kid's had fun collecting Frisbees, Koozies, Bubble Gum and other freebies.
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 34 million people participated in NNO 2004.
