Landscape Lighting Repairs After The Drought
With the heat beginning to subside, and with rain periodically showing up in the forecast, we are all feeling a bit more comfortable about getting outside to enjoy our yards, gardens, and residential landscape lighting systems. The thing is, we are also noticing the damage that the extreme temperatures of last summer have caused in our yards. All over the city, the impact of the heat, though now subsiding, can still be felt in the fabric of the landscape itself.
Trees have been particularly affected by the drought. In some respects many trees have suffered even more than smaller shrubs and landscaping plants. Many of these forms of vegetation are drought resistant species transplanted from very warm parts of the world. Native trees like oak, willow, and pecan, however, are used to far more rain than we have received over the past 8 months.
As a result some trees in your yard may be dead, and many more may be suffering from heat related defoliation. It will be necessary to consult with professionals to remove any dead trees from your yard, and professional landscapers will be needed to trim back the dead branches and make the living parts of surviving trees presentable again.
As you know, Illuminations Lighting and Design specializes in landscape lighting, residential community outdoor lighting, and outside tree lighting. We actually partner with one of the leading landscaping firms in Houston, so we are used to combining our specialty services with congruent service offerings of garden design, tree services, outdoor building construction, and patio design.
While you are making arrangements to have your landscaper assess the damage done to your yard by the recent drought, please consider letting us visit your home and take a look at your landscape lighting system.
It is unlikely that the heat has damaged any of the equipment itself. However, any significant impact on vegetation that alters the appearance of your yard can also have an impact on your lighting. If damaged trees have to be trimmed and tended to in order to expedite a full recovery, we may need to remove any light fixtures suspended in the branches or electrcal wiring system that may be a hazard.
Also, if the shape of the tree is altered by trimming back the dead branches, up lights positioned around its trunk will need to be repositioned to illuminate the healthiest portions of the tree. While the damage done by the drought may be impossible to miss in the daytime, our specialty lighting techniques can make any tree we light look vibrant and alive.
The most superb landscape lighting effects are often generated simply by finding the right levels of luminance and directing them from the best possible angles of incidents.
Ask us too about other landscape lighting services and outdoor lighting services we offer such as outdoor kitchen and pool house lighting. These buildings could very well be the hub of an upcoming Thanksgiving or Christmas party. It would be wise to think about doing something innovative that could make the Holiday Season of 2011 the best in recent memory.
We all deserve a break from the heat, and we all deserve the best now that the worst appears to be over just in time for family gatherings and some greatly needed time off from work.
