Formal Living Room Lighting

No matter how innovative and personal custom home architecture becomes, formality will never go out of style.  Its rich display of elegance, combined with a tangible sense of conservative self-containment, epitomizes the sensibilities of many who have pursued success as a means to a more sublime and beautiful life, and not as an end unto itself.  It is this blend of the sublime and the beautiful, as Edmund Burke would say, that characterizes the aesthetic of formal living room lighting. Typically, we blend the use of both fixtures types whenever we work in a custom home setting.  Places in the room where a new decorative element would complete the aesthetic can be occupied by decorative fixtures.  Other places, such as sitting rooms with highly aesthetic elements should be made more clearly visible by concealed lights.

Formal living room lighting also requires considerable accent lighting in places and artwork lighting in others.  Many homeowners have at least one display cabinet of some form or another located in the living room.  Special lights should be installed in these cabinets to draw appropriate attention to their contents.

Wall space can be accented in two ways.  Empty wall space can be filled with decorative sconces that correlate to other elements of interior décor.  Fine art can be illuminated with proprietary, concealed projectors that make the painting look illuminated from within.

Home lighting controls are then installed that allow residents to manipulate layers of light, along with individual lights, with user friendly hand-held remotes.
