Illuminations Lighting Design awarded Design Contract for exterior landscape illumination at Carlton Woods Country Club.

Located in The Woodlands, Carlton Woods is the premier gated private club community in the Houston area.  The Jack Nicholas Signature Golf Course has been named Best New Private Golf Course in Texas by Golf Digest and the 53,000 square-foot Italianate Clubhouse is one of the finest in the country.

When contacted by the Carlton Woods management team concerning the exterior lighting of the building and grounds, the designer, Rick Luberger, outlined the following objectives:

• Create an atmosphere promoting dining, entertainment, recreation and relaxation
• Showcase the clubhouse architecture in a fashion which communicated a sense of prestige and welcome
• Allow nighttime appreciation, enjoyment and functional use of the landscape investment
• Provide nighttime security for members and staff
• Ease of maintenance and low operating costs

Due to the large scope of the project, the work was segmented to facilitate budget parameters. Phase I included the illumination of the clubhouse architecture, the moon shadow lighting of the cart paths, gardens and lawn surrounding the clubhouse as well as the tree canopy of illumination specimen landscape trees and native forest trees. Phase II proposes the illumination of the swimming center pool and surrounding landscape. Phase II involves the proposed banquet facility and golf course and lake vistas behind the club, swimming center and banquet.
