This helps every client and every seeker find answers to the many questions that inevitably arise when one considers the virtually endless possibilities that arise out of lighting design.
Illuminations Lighting Design RSS News Feeds convey this information to each subscriber free of charge, and they make more information available in more a more concise, descriptive, and efficient manner than email.
RSS news feeds offer several advantages over email that may soon make RSS the primary means of electronically transferring information for the purposes of online community management.
• RSS news feeds are bulletproof to viruses, eliminating the need for a spam filter that may delay receipt or information—or catch malicious code in time to prevent an attack.
• Newsreaders are much simpler to install and configure, eliminating the need to call technical support when email mysteriously stops working.
• ILD feeds can address entire communities with daily, automated efficiency that saves time and gets the information out more quickly in a manner that the user can customize.
• RSS news feeds can be selected individually or in user-defined groupings, thus giving the reader total control of the information that he or she receives.
Our online community actually consists of five distinct, albeit highly interconnected communities grouped around our service offerings. Many clients fall into one or more of these categories, and RSS works especially well for them because they can choose one or more specific feed(s) that relate to their interests and help them in specific ways.
Lighting Design Clients These people are interior designers at heart. They use our news feeds to learn new ways to combine technology and creativity. They study every bit of information that we send them on new products and new developments so they will know the best time to upgrade their home or office interior lighting fixtures and lamps.
Landscape Lighting Clients This large and diverse group of clients ranges from custom residential clients and commercial building owners on up to five star resorts, hotels, and country clubs. Landscape lighting is our second-largest growing division, rapidly penetrating the high-end marketplace. RSS news feeds keep landscape aficionados abreast of the latest technology and developments in the market. They inspire corporate, residential clients, and high-end clientele alike to stay ahead of the game with ILD.
Electrical Contracting RSS news feeds provide journeyman electricians, residential clients, and business owners safety and power saving suggestions on electrical design and wiring. This is a true money saver, and surely a must-read for anyone interested in improved safety, lowering electrical costs, obtaining professional advice from certified and licensed electricians, upgrading and installing power backup equipment, and utilizing innovative wiring techniques.
Fine Art and Display Lighting Each new work of art needs to be placed in its own special light. RSS news feeds to our fine art and display lighting clients give collectors daily inspiration and practical advice on how to shine the light on the art without showing off the fixture. Add inspiration to inspiration, and light to art that brings art to life with RSS news feeds from our fine art and display lighting experts.

They all appear in a whole new light with holiday lighting design and decorative themes custom designed by Illuminations Lighting.
Fine Art stands out in a new holiday light… Bright Christmas greens and red often need to be “toned down” to prevent them from overwhelming the colors of fine paintings. The key to doing this is a scientific understanding of color itself. Red and green are primary colors latent in every great work of art. With advanced, equipment optimized to precise photometric settings, we will blend primary reds and greens of into the background and bring Goya, Picasso, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh to the forefront with a skillful balance between classicism, elegance, and solemn seasonal tradition. Layered lighting enables us to do this by offsetting degrees of light with controlled amounts of shadow, so that all things remain visible in some degree of light, but saturation, hue, and color differentiation become a tool we can manipulate into any holiday design our client desires.
Commerce and Public Service light up for the holidays… Commercial clients from all industries will invariably benefit from ILD holiday lighting designs. Corporations spend a small fortune on nativity and secular Christmas displays, only to diminish the value of these displays with generic lighting fixtures that stick out like eyesores and illuminate statuary from the wrong angles. Landscape lighting designers will replace these cheaper fixtures with affordable, albeit commercial grade lights that can both highlight and accent outdoor decorative displays. These same fixtures will then be readjusted to upright and accent year-round foliage and landscape features after New Years Day, so the cost effectiveness of a holiday lighting landscape is not limited to the holidays alone. Commercial interiors will also bathe in warm greens, reds, yellows, and soft whites to set the mood for company Christmas parties, and a high-end restaurant lighting project includes as well the dimmability and flexibility required to compliment any additional Christmas lighting or decorations managers use to upgrade the dining atmosphere.
Five star restaurants in particular choose ILD at this time of year because they normally decorate for the holidays with a more reserved, eclectic approach to design. They prefer our professionals above other designers because of our ability to help them decorate both walls and hanging artwork for a more refined, sophisticated holiday experience.
Convenience, Comfort, and Nostalgia Unite… Don’t forget either that our Home Automation division has already earned the reputation for Houston’s leading experts in the field. Any lighting theme we install for the interior or exterior of the home can be subsequently networked into the central controller and controlled with touch panels and remotes. Your Christmas tree lights can be turned on and off, or dimmed with home automation technology, and outdoor display lights can be adjusted from your desktop computer. Avoid the holiday rush to movies as well with special effects lighting design in your home theater. With the simple touch of a button, the landscape lights outside go down, and the curtains close as ambient greens and yellows wash across the ceiling to highlight your favorite Christmas oldies in the comfort your living room.

In one sense, interactive media design reverses the information age, where machines feed content to the Mind of Man. With interactive media design, it is different. Home automation connects the human mind to a computer network that links all home subsystems together into a command center of audio visual feeds and push button convenience.
It sounds simple, and it really is, at least from the end user’s perspective. Interactive media design links every lifestyle element together into a central computer that is programmed with multiple subroutines containing embedded algorithms that regulate everything from climate control to home theater and home security to audio and video feeds. Interactive media design touch panels installed on walls and hand-held wireless remotes allow anyone familiar with a few basic command sequences to activate the most advanced electrical design and lighting technology available on today’s market.
No two of these systems are identical. We design interactive media systems custom to the client’s home environment, daily lifestyle, and personal desires. As we receive increasing numbers of calls daily from inquirers wanting to know more about our services, we decided to post a few of our question/answer sessions for quick reference.
Q: If media refers to broadcast information, how can you say home automation is actually a form of interactive media design?
A: Actually it is the other way around. Home automation is any computer-driven network that operates on a series of embedded commands that operate various home sub systems and network. Home automation itself is combination electrical design and computer programming. Interactive media design extends home automation control and interface to audio and video devices so that information can be sent back to the person and not just from the person.
Q: What elements of home media does interactive design tie together?
A: Essentially, interactive media unites the phone system, indoor television with outdoor security cameras and gate access control. We also tie our home automation section in with the HVAC system, allowing a homeowner to regulate the temperature even while traveling on the road. HVAC controls can be turned on and off at will whenever!
Q: Is interactive media designed provide updates, weather reports, and entertainment like traditional meda?
A: It can be. Our home theater customers enjoy one-touch control of music and video anytime they want to watch their favorite movie with background music. We have been asked on occasions to link computers and flat panels together, thus uniting TV and Internet for a client so they can watch satellite TV feeds through DSL or cable. This is rare, but we do get these requests at times.
Q: How extensively does interactive media design depend on the Internet? What if DSL goes down?
A: Interactive media does not depend on the Internet at all. The Internet is only one of many tools that clients can use to control the system. The central computer controls indoor and landscape lighting and the HVAC system. Homeowners can log into their home automation network and turn the lights on and off and control climate within the home while online. If your DSL or Cable goes down, your home automation system will still work, as the backbone of this system is the sophisticated electrical designing and programming, not the home computer.

The simple answer is all kinds.
Very soon, almost every industry in today’s commercial marketplace will become aware of the power of digital media design. Digital media design represents the next step in video evolution—and possibly an entirely new direction for media in general. Digital media design unites computer memory with high resolution and high definition video, completing the first successful step toward the blending of computer technology and television that many have predicted will unite all media into one in the near future. In addition to its sophisticated and sheik aesthetic, digital media design offers tremendous commercial potential that represents value with imagery and combines presentation with highly visible, advanced technology. Digital media design converts electronics to image and image to impression, thus making an emotional statement without argument or pretense. It’s as if the clear facts at hand speak louder than any words of persuasion your best sales person can muster!
Illuminations Lighting and Design’s home automation department has now begun to extend its service offerings into the commercial arena due to the growing demand for digital media design as a highly effective tool of advertising and showcasing both products and services. As an authorized distributor of home theater audio and video equipment of the highest commercial grade, and as Houston’s leading design firm multi-specializing in five aesthetic and technical disciplines, ILD offers this service to eclectic consumers, service industries, and high-end vertical markets. Digital media design is not only increasing sales, but also sells more with less effort in a number of industries. Here are a few examples that illustrate the emerging trends in digital media designs.
Art Galleries Many curators and art collectors have found that adding a projection screen to showcase impeccable images of rare works of art can be used in a number of promotional capacities. Pending grand openings of emerging artists can be silently—but prominently— showcased in an “upcoming events” presentation.
Museums Archeology and historical specialists have discovered that bringing the past to new life through digital media design reintroduces our busy modern world to its myth poetic roots in an exciting, mesmerizing, and innovative fashion.
Hotels High-end resorts are replacing print media with projectors and screens. This allows them to showcase in their hotel lobbies all the many amenities and special events located on their property. Guests walk into the lobby and see the entire grounds on the screen, making them want to see more in person.
Travel and Vacation Resorts Timeshares sales have increased as well, and reputable timeshare companies have finally differentiated themselves from less well-thought-of competitors by offering slide shows to prospective buyers that clearly show them what they are being offered.
Many more industries are discovering the amazing potential of digital media design. Illuminations Lighting professionals design media rooms for Houston clients seeking an experience that surpasses that of public cinema. We build each project around four key elements that we then customize and personalize specific to each clients desires, lifestyle, and home environment. This multi-specialty approach to media room design differentiates the genius of our Houston home automation division from our competitors and offers an unparalleled, one-source synthesis of aesthetic effects and state of the art equipment. Each aspect of media room design is treated as a specialty unto itself, requiring a synthesis of interdisciplinary designer cross training, technical expertise, and advanced automation programming and controls to effectively create. The following summaries indicate these basic elements of media room design and the core from which we expand and customize each project into a truly home theater system.
Video Sourcing and Positioning: It is important to consider that film is first and foremost a visual medium. Every Media room design must give priority attention to the screen as the visual focal point for the audience. Our clients are often surprised to learn that we do not always recommend the largest room in the home as the location for the home theater. Our primary concern is video sourcing and positioning.
Audio Equipment and Positioning: Two major factors determine acoustical equipment and positioning: the size and shape of the room itself, and the acoustical qualities of the materials composing the ceilings, floors, and walls. Developing the audio segment of the media rooms design requires the type of advanced architectural and construction cross training our specialists undergo.
Lighting Design and Effects: To design a media room for Houston residents that never makes them want to leave home again requires us to go beyond the normal lighting fixtures of public theater houses. Our lighting design for media rooms must do three things to accomplish this task. Click here to learn what they…
Multifunctional Control: All of the drafting, development, and labor we invest in media room design would offer little value if it was as complicated to operate as it is to plan and install. The good news for Houston clients is, we make it just as easy on clients as we make it challenging to ourselves. Thanks to our trained and certified home automation team, we link all key elements of home automation and theater together and directly tie their functionality to themes that we pre-program into a central processing controller.
ILD professionals offer every individual not only the best in home theater and automation, but also the most unique and personalized media rooms designs directly under the control of the homeowner—something public theater cannot offer.
